Here's a picture of my Lodge, opened in the MM Degree, but somthing is wrong. See if you can spot what's not right in this picture. For an enlarged image, just click on the picture.
Hint: This is an easy one, there are only two things wrong.
First off, I don't see a S&C on your altar, but then, if your lodge were indeed opened on the MM, then you would probably not be allowed to ake photos, anyway.
Second, welcome to the masonic blogging community. You may want to check a few of ours out, there are probably 2 dozen regular bloggers who have been active in the last year.
Third - and this is just a nitpick on my part - you've just joined and been raised. You haven't even scratched the surface of the Blue Lodge yet; why are you petitioning the local YR chapter?
Ok, it's been aobut a week, and here are the answers: THere is is fact no S&C on the Alter, and the G is not lit. Also, and apparently I even missed this, the candels around the alter are not in place.
As far as Tom Accuosti's comment, I'm going into the YR now because. . .well, I want to, but also I plan on entering the officer line this fall for my blue Lodge.
Nathan - The G not lit and the candles wouldn't be obvious becase some states are different in their placement and such. Some lodges have the candles (actually small lanterns) at the officer's stations. Some lodges have a small spotlight on the altar, some light up the G, some do both.
Yes, I know - we get the idea that we're all Masons so everything should be the same, but some things vary a little and others vary wildly. A few years ago, somebody in Conn wanted to have a degree with officers from Mass, RI & NY. Nobody checked ahead of time, and guess what? They kept stopping to say "Uh, we dont' do that," or "We do it differently."
So, what's the dillyo with the YR and officers where you are? It's my understanding that they are completely separate groups; neither YR nor SR has any bearing at all on our officer's positions.
Well, if I understand you correctly you are right, YR and SR have no bearing on Blue Lodge. They are seperate groups, though often times will share the same Temple building and members.

Congrats bro nate. we have a chef nate in our lodge. Look into the council degrees put on between penn. masons and ohio masons, they do the first two degrees of council in one day and it is phenomenal! I am an officer in my chapter and a PM, so good luck! Just do not accept any officer position in YR till your finished with Blue Lodge officership if that is your goal. It will mean that much more if you do. My brother - in - law was a penguin!

Anyway, best of luck.
